On the similar lines of question asked by moviequeen, who do you think are the most overrated actors/actresses?

Ben kingsley (leaving apart his Gandhi and Schindler's list) and Tom Cruise for sure for the very few kind of roles he can do.

Interestingly, I noticed that she cited Colin Farell as underrated. I find him to be terribly overrated. I have not liked any movie that he was in, and I haven't liked him in those movies - his presence usually making the movie worse.
Maybe In Bruges would change that for me. I may get to it one of these days.

In defence of Colin Farrell, I don't like all of his movies, the ones I think he's good in are the smaller ones like Tigerland , In Bruges , Phone Booth , and New World, The . When in comes to overrated I would say Sandra Bullock (or at least recently), Penelope Cruz, Tom Cruise, Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt, Tommy Lee Jones, Harrison Ford, Charlton Heston, Cameron Diaz, Keira Knightly just to name a few.

i think its natural for most of us to feel that majority of the star actors/actresses are overrated..

I suspect that a lot of these are victims of poor direction, or at least direction that fails to correct for their tics and exaggerations. Pair the right actor/actress and the right director, and it can go nicely (Penelope Cruz with Amoldovar is good, Cruz with anyone else is unwatcheable). Oliver Stone doesn't do many favors for any of his players.

Ethan Hawke, Tom Cruise, Nicolas Cage and Sean Penn.
George Clooney and Brad Pitt, really? Overexposed, perhaps, but not overrated IMO!
