Edit movie info, some problems!
[archived]
I have tried to edit some movies (City of Lost Children, The and Crimson Rivers, The (Les Rivières Pourpres)) for more than 24 hours but ML always says "This movie is edited by someone else".

Is there a possibility that someone has opened editing window and forgot it open for eternity? There might be some people who doesn't log out after every session.

Could the ML shut down connection to those persons who have had it open more than 24 hour or something?

Reason why I want to edit those magnificient French movies is that Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Jean Reno are well known also in USA and they should be seen in those moviecredits where they belong.
------------------
Also there is sometimes problems when I try to suggest films with IMDB-ID. Sometimes ML doesn't find movies even if there is egligible IMDB-ID.
For example ML doesn't find following movies:
Nobody Will Speak of Us When We're Dead, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0113918/
Asterix and Obelix vs. Caesar, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0133385/
Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0250223/

I don't want to go into details on the forums, because we're actually conducting an experiment around movie editing and talking about it might skew the results. But there are reasons it works this way for now. If you're really curious what's up, mail me (use the feedback link on the main page under the lists of movies). Once we've done the analysis, I'll post a description of what we did, why, and what we found. That will probably be a couple of months down the road.

FYI, the movies you cite below all appear to be pending suggestions to be added to the DB.

FYI, we made a few changes so that the "edited by someone else" message won't be showing up any more. More details at our announcements page.

Wouldn't just *saying* it's an experiment change people's behaviour ?

A reasonable question. Under some conditions, yes. However, in this experiment there were several different treatments applied to the subjects. There are many experiments (e.g., all lab experiments) where people know they are in an experiment, but don't know the treatment. Then we can still reasonably compare the results of the different treatments.

What is the protocol for U.S. theatrical Release dates when there are severaal? For example, Métisse (1993), has both a city release, and a USA release, and some movies have limited and wide releases.

My personal opinion is that (limited) should always trump (festivals or NY/LA ) .

That part is simple, but what if (wide) comes long after (limited)? What if they are close together? (limited) is a rather vague description that could actually be narrowly wide.

I guess it comes down to the question Clinton answered legitimately with 'I guess that depends on what your definition of is is.' [=D>]

We don't have an official policy... I think the MovieGuru usually puts the earliest non-festival release.
