Are most of the people on this site male? I read some of the movie reccomendations, and all were from guys. Just wondering.

I'm male, and I trade recommendations with a number of female friends who are very active movie fans, but none of them (to my knowledge) uses Movielens, despite my yakking about it frequently. The female friends who love their Netflix memberships don't seem particularly interested in the recommendation software there, either. It's much too small a group to have any statistical value, but I perceive less interest among the females I know personally.

Follow-up - I asked my wife why she does not use Movielens. She said that, as a 'sweeping generalization', she suspects that women may be more 'relational' in seeking recommendations, and that she prefers talking about movies with other people, and discussing what may be good or bad. She thinks that men may be better able to trust technology for getting information.
