Why no predictions rated 5.0?

The highest prediction rating in my "Top Picks for You" window is 4.0.
Why are there no ratings of 5.0 or 4.5?
I have rated more than 500 films (14 at '5.0', 33 at '4.5' and 14 at less than '2.5'). Also, I noticed that for the 14 films that I rated '5.0', all of them were predicted to be rated by me at '4.0'. BTW, the shape of the histogram for my ratings is fairly normal.
I realize that your algorithms are conservative, but this renders your program rather useless to me.
What I am after is to find films that I will truly love without having to sit through a bunch of what I consider mediocre films.
Has anyone else had the same problem?
