I try to pick You some movies with interesting plot and some cool chracters.
I notised that You don't like when special effects take over story. I also noticed that You like movies from 60's, 70's and 80's so I will pick You some of my favorits from that era.
You might also be a little bit of romantic, because You like films with heroes and without too much of violence.
Cool Hand Luke (Because of Shawshank Redemption, one of my favourites escape films)
Great Escape, The (Another great escape film)
Snatch (twisted plot and cool characters)
Sting, The (just like snatch, great plot)
Trainspotting (fast but not furious)
Animal House (this is a wild quess because You don't like Shrek, anyway this is comedy classic)
Game, The (surprising plot, better than se7en)
Good, The Bad and The Ugly, The (Buono, il brutto, il cattivo, Il) (Clint Eastwood was at 60's like Bruce Willis was at 80's in John McClane roles, take a look for other Sergio Leones films too!)
Rio Bravo (John Wayne, in his best, was like john McClane)
Lion King, The (romantic epic where good conquers evil)
Goodfellas (crime film with an attitude!)
O Brother, Where Art Thou? (fairy tale with great characters, Coen brothers kicks ass)
Fargo (because of Big Lebowski, Coen's are genious!)
Terminator, The (original terminator didn't have too much special effects)
L.A. Confidential (kevin spacey was great in this and Usual suspects)
Top Secret! (Because of Fletch)
Airplane! (Zuckers did'nt zuck on those days)
Virgin Suicides, The (because of Wonder boys)
Ice Storm, The (because of Wonder boys)
Lethal Weapon (good and funny action movie from 80's)
