Sumytra1 Answered 6 years ago		Here's the list I began with: Women: Cate Blanchette, Judy Dench, Frances McDormand, Annette Benning, Naomi Watts Men: Chris Cooper, Kevin Kline, David Straithairn, Robert Downey Jr., Stanley Tucci, Tobey Maguire I vote for Cate Blanchette. Her range is phenomenal (a fairy queen in Lord of the Rings and a pediphile in Notes on a Scandal) and she embodies every character she plays. In addition, she also makes everyone with her look good. A very emotionally generous actress.

pastellation Answered 6 years ago		I think either Kate Winslet or Judi Dench. Most movies I have seen of theirs I absolutely loved and their performances in them were spectacular.

alanmacd Answered 6 years ago		Male: Sean Penn is probably the best actor working today, but Ryan Gosling is going to make a SERIOUS run at the title in the next few years if he keeps up the quality of his work (e.g., "Half Nelson", "The Believer") Female: Merryl Streep - the woman can play anything, and given the diversity and strength of her performances for 3 decades, it's not even close.

JustAnotherTool Answered 4 years ago		I have to disagree Christian Bale is quite a decent actor, I'm not talking in [noLink]batman[/noLink] but in Machinist, The (Maquinista, El) or American Psycho. I haven't seen Incredible Hulk, The but I always thought Ed Norton is one of the best actors today. And finally this might seem weird but I think John Turturro is a really underrated actor I especially like him in Barton Fink and loved him in Miller's Crossing.

indifferent Answered 4 years ago		Actress: Kate Winslet, Naomi Watts, Ellen Burstyn (but I've only watched her in Requiem for a Dream) Actor: Johnny Depp (just the sheer range), Ryan Gosling, Rutger Hauer (Bladerunner) Lots of other people I cannot remember yet.
