Discussion of Dogville (2003)

This movie was an impulse buy, it will take a couple days to arrive. ML predicts 4 stars [edit: at the time of editing 3.5 actually :) ] for this movie. I'm a new member so I'm not exactly sure if the prediction is correct. I have rated only 43 movies so far. The question is: whom would you recommend it to? What other movie or movies would you recommend to a person who likes this one?
Dogville seems to be one of those movies you end up either loving or hating.

-- m, from Finland -- I watched Dogville about a year or two ago. It's like a stage play on film. Sorry, I can't remember the plot but I know it was interesting. The audience is kept at a distance. If you enjoy live theatre and post-modernism you will probably like Dogville. There is nothing to compare it to other than Our Town on film. Let me know what you think. --Sumytra Next time I want to "take a risk" I think I'll watch Persona.
Blame Movielens for recommending me yet another movie with a dog in a significant role! How about One Hundred and One Dalmatians next time? What kind of a place is this anyway? ;) Anyhow, I just watched Amores Perros and wanted to point out that in both movies, Dogville and that one, the dog symbolizes moral values which the humans seem to lack. Furthermore in both movies the pet is the only object of true emotional attachment for some of the characters.
I gave Amores Perros 5 stars.
PS. Hopefully the next recommendation has an up-ending.
