This should be fun...

Which films do you think should never have been made?

Here's my list, in no particular order (apologies in advance if I offend anyone!):

(Based on my lowest rated films)

The Haunting (1999)
The Next Best Thing (2000)
Get Shorty (1995)
Dumb & Dumber (1994)
How the Grinch Stole Christmas (a.k.a. The Grinch) (2000)
Bringing Out The Dead (1999)
Bicentennial Man (1999)
Sommersby (1993)

  That one is easy

Alone in the Dark
I don't think that there's one redeaming thing about it. Its kind of funny bad for the first 10 minutes, then just turns into real bad

This is some movies that i regret that i ever wasted time watching

American Beauty(1999)
The Mangler(1995)
21 Grams(2003)
Fargo(1996)
Lethal Weapon 4(1998)

I'm stunned that you've lumped Fargo, American Beauty, and 21 Grams in with Highlander II, The Mangler, and Lethal Weapon 4. Most movie lovers and industry insiders would agree with the latter, but vehemently disagree with the former!

Under the awful film list, I'll offer:

AI
Swordfish
Club Dread
The Royal Tenanbaums
Stargate
Rocky V
Wing Commander
Robot Jox
Superman 3 & 4
Mars attacks
Iron Eagle II
Alien 3
Mitchell

But really, there's way too many bad movies to name. Sadly.

my definition of a bad movie is a movie that bored me, dissapointed me or just made me wanna leave the theatre, it may well be the case that the movie was well made and all that, but that it doesn't was in my taste.
Take Fargo as an example, i think the coens are great filmakers, but this movie, it just went on and on without getting anywere with a lot of people running around saying ja ja all the time and me getting annoyed at the character played by Frances McDormand, but i'm also aware of that it was a lot better done than, say the mangler, but both movies was just an boring movie experience to me, and thats why they are on my list of bad movies.
So i don't care what the majority thinks or what you are expect to think about certain movies just because some experts says so, if i didn't like the movie, then it was a bad movie for me.

  ^ That's valid, even though I disagree with some of your movie choices. Especially on this site, it's better to go with what I like, not what a reviewer says I should like. Although I'll give a slightly higher score when I can appreciate the thought that went into it, even if it wasn't that entertaining.

But the whole "you SHOULD like it" can get to me. I'm not fond of Citizen Kane and Raging Bull, even though reviewers weep over what beautiful movies they are.

As for worst:
Stroszek
Jury Duty
Harry and the Hendersons
Endless Love
Batman & Robin

  Easy:

* Pretty Woman
* Forrest Gump
* The Scorpion King
* Center Stage
* White Noise
* Vanity Fair
* Van Helsing
* Soul Plane
* Head In The Clouds
* Divine Secrets Of The Ya-Ya Sisterhood
* My Big Fat Greek Wedding
* Practical Magic
* What Lies Beneath

There Are more, but that's enough for the moment.

  You know I totally forgot about Highlander II. Not sure how I could except for using all my power to forget that pile of a movie. I never actually finished the movie because it was so bad but I have seen it in bits and pieces and never have I heard such a reverse from the origanal movie to the sequal. But anyway I would definatly say this is the worst film second to A Thin Red Line.

I can understand how the "ja-ja" accent joke could grate on someone (even I thought it was just a tad overdone), but I have to disagree that the story didn't get anywhere. Every scene contributed to the story, even a scene as seemingly superfluous as the one where the Sheriff has the awkward meeting with her crazy Japanese classmate. Infact, even Siskel & Ebert praised the Coens for having the guts to leave such an enjoyable but unecessary scene in the film. They were wrong. The scene was absolutely essential. Up until that point the Sherrif was trusting and naive and when she first questioned William H. Macy she took him at his word, left, and the investigation was at a standstill. Then she ran into the classmate only to find out later that he had lied to her about being married, etc. Knowing she was just fooled caused her to reconsider her earlier police work which of course led to the second questioning of Macy and the solving of the crime.

Movsom, what are some of your favorite movies?
