This should be fun...
Which films do you think should never have been made?
Here's my list, in no particular order (apologies in advance if I offend anyone!):
(Based on my lowest rated films)
The Haunting (1999) The Next Best Thing (2000) Get Shorty (1995) Dumb & Dumber (1994) How the Grinch Stole Christmas (a.k.a. The Grinch) (2000) Bringing Out The Dead (1999) Bicentennial Man (1999) Sommersby (1993)

These are the movies that came to my mind spontanously:
Garfield The Movie Van Helsing The 13th Warrior
Did you know that there is an officially elected worst film? It's called "Plan 9 From Outer Space" (1959) by Ed Wood. However the election took place in the seventies (I think), so the movies I rated above hadn't have a chance. That film by Ed Wood is so bad, that I really enjoyed watching it. It is actually funnier than most comedies... There has recently been made a film about Ed Wood which I can recommend. It's called "Ed Wood", the main character is played by Johnny Depp.

Ed Wood films are great. Even better is "Ed Wood", directed by Tim Burton. It's actually amazing because after you're done watching it you feel like it's an Ed Wood film--that it's really bad--but if you actually analyze the film itself it's really well done. It's silly.
Uwe Boll is the modern equivalent of Ed Wood, methinks. The poor guy doesn't have a clue.

how am i a troll? i think blade runner is the worst movie i've ever seen. i didnt care about the characters. i hated the acting. i hated rutger hauer and i hated harrison ford. daryl hannah is ugly. i wanted everyone to die so the film would end. i hated how hauer ran around howling in his boxers and shoving his head through walls. it was ridiculous and not even amusing. blade runner is the only movie that i'm actually angry that i've watched.

really??? i like 21 Grams it was kinda deep, and oldboy is one of the best movies i ever saw, but i can see how someone might dislike it since it is very disturbing. while reading reviews of the film i came across one that describe it "as brilliant as it is disturbing," which is the best description of the film i can think of. it is without a shadow of a doubt, extermely disturbing, yet brilliant.

I have the same response to Ed Wood. Johnny Depp and Tim Burton seem to go together like chocolate covered grasshoppers.

21 Grams deep?!? it was a well played drama, nothing more nothing less, that the director cut and pasted back together so it would look like it was something more than that, and since i not a big fan of this kind of movies, i had a really boring time at the theatre. Oldboy, i just dont get it, it was just a boring movie to me, disturbing? in what way? If you want to see a movie that are "as brilliant as it is disturbing" go and see Takashi Miike's Visitor Q, thats a movie experience.

Exactly. 21 Grams took a sort of genre of film that had also been used daringly and turned it into cliche. I tend to really like movies that are non-linear and have a lot about the characters' connection through some similar motif, but 21 Grams was just bland to me.
Gattaca I remember liking, but not thinking it was particularly great. Have I already used the "you just don't understand it" fallacy yet in these fora? If I have, slap me, because it's a fallacy.
I think American Beauty, The 400 Blows, Fargo, and Magnolia are brilliant, by the way.
