Should be a simple discussion exercise...
I saw Ringu. I didn't find it that interesting, but it was okay. I rated it 3 out of 5 stars. Since I haven't seen the remake, I now know that I don't really intend to.

Don't Come Knocking written by the Pulitzer Prize Winning playwright, Sam Shepard, is pointless and brooding. He's much better at writing stage plays. These characters may have been surprising on stage but they lack direction on screen. There was one prolonged scene where the young male throws all of his stuff out the second store window. It would be difficult to do that on stage as well as riding a horse across the desert. Shepard still loves the twisted western.
Normally, I'll spend the brain time trying to figure out what a writer is trying to say when meaning doesn't reveal itself easily. I didn't care enough about these characters to do that.
Movielens predicted 3.5 stars. I give it 1 star and I'm being generous.
