What's the last thing you watched and what did you rate it?

Should be a simple discussion exercise...

I saw Ringu. I didn't find it that interesting, but it was okay. I rated it 3 out of 5 stars. Since I haven't seen the remake, I now know that I don't really intend to.

"The Machinist" (4.5 Stars): A mysterious movie that actually has a pay off at the end. Ain't that a rare bird these days?

  The Shadow.
4 of 5 (for movielens), which is 3 (of 4) in my regular system.

I can't recommend this film enough. I hadn't seen it since the theater--and didn't like it then--but it's absolutely fantastic. Beautifully constructed storytelling.

"Hidalgo". Eh. The friend who lent it to me describes it as "good, wholesome critter entertainment," and "the horse gives an excellent performance." Every character, from the mains to the bit parts, is a caricature, but for some reason not as annoying as one would expect. 2.5 -- average.

Dawn of the Dead (1978) version. It was recommended by another recommendation engine, and has been for several weeks. I gave it 4 out of 5.

  Kung Fu Hustle

Enjoyable action and funny characters, but like action films usually plot isn't that good. So that's why 3 stars.
