Rules about posting TV shows?
|
|
I love movielens to bits and I know this is probably an ignorant question, but is there a rule about adding TV shows to movielens? I've seen almost no TV shows on movielens and it doesn't seem to me that rating TV shows is that different from rating films, but perhaps movielens is strictly for movies. Sorry for the ignorant question.

There are some miniseries here, but TV shows don't really belong here. Not sure if there is any official rules about it.

As with mcis, I don't think there are any official rules. However, I'd say that while miniseries might make sense, ongoing TV shows shouldn't be on here, because it's hard to rate them with just five stars and no description.
For example, The Simpsons was glorious for about the first eight or nine years, and had it ended way back then I would have given it five stars. But now there are (in my opinion - and isn't that what Movielens is all about?) more bad episodes than good. So I'd rate the series as a whole at 2.5 stars or so. So what should I give it on Movielens?
I also imagine that having multiple directors and rotating casts on TV series would mess up Movielens's prediction ratings.
At least a miniseries is done and dusted in 13 episodes, tops, so you can offer your opinion on the completed whole.
Not sure where I stand on something like Terriers, which was cancelled after half a season, other than to say, 'I loved Terriers!'
