Have you guys tested what effect seeing collective / other people's ratings has on a movie's overall rating?

I think the effect is clear - if it is a movie that you would have enjoyed even if you hadn't read positive reviews you enjoy it even more because you are experiencing collective-appreciation.
If on the other hand, you don't enjoy the movie even after reading positive reviews then you will likely look more closely to find the positive aspects of the movie.
