Acceptable Use Policy for MovieLens

MovieLens is an experimental platform for studying recommender systems, interface design, and online community design and theory. GroupLens Research has created this acceptable use statement to define appropriate practices for the use of this site and specify actions that will be taken if these practices are not followed.

Acceptable Use

By using the MovieLens conversation features (including message boards and member profiles), you are agreeing to abide by the following:

  • You will be respectful of other MovieLens users. Obscene, indecent, unlawful, threatening or harmful content will not be tolerated.
  • You may not advertise or offer to sell any goods or services for any commercial purposes.
  • You will not post any copyrighted content.

MovieLens reserves the right to monitor any activity and content associated with its conversation features, and to remove or edit content that violates these policies or is otherwise objectionable.

If you find objectionable content, please report it immediately, by sending email to ml-problems@cs.umn.edu.
